December 2011/January 2012

Almost another year, I say almost because we still have some work to
do.  This month we get to buy toys with our hard earned money from the
Mud Run. We have some fish dinners to work also.

All said and done, we had a good year with a lot of people to thank! I
won’t make a list for fear I will unintentionally leave someone off. So let’
s just say we have the greatest bunch of members and volunteers in the
world. Yes, it could be better and we will just have to work harder to
convince more people to join, and more importantly to get involved and
be members. We have a unique organization with an opportunity to keep
the Marine Corps traditions alive and close as non-active Marines. But
that could not be even close to possible with out our social members that
support our league.

The next opportunity that you have, I would like for you to stand on those
yellow foot prints on the sidewalk in front of our flag. While you're
standing there think about how far you have come since you once stood
on those foot prints. It is time to renew your vows as a Marine. The best
way to do that is in the Marine Corps League.  There is room for you and
a buddy.

I saw many new faces at our Birthday. Several joined and hopefully the
others will also do the same.  Then I hope they will become active and
help us carry on the tradition.  It is not all just work. Just to name a few
things... It was a thrill to be a part of the Mud Run. It was my pleasure to
help present the $3000 Golf Outing check to Big Brothers and Big
Sisters. The honor to stand and salute at one of our brother Marine’s
funeral.  Some of the memories shared from our fallen Comrades, stories
of their time in the Corps.  Those precious moments makes the work,
planning, and meetings all worth it. I hear athletes use the cliche, it's time
to step up to the plate, maybe it's time for us to again step on the yellow
foot prints.

I hope you all have a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year. Remember
to support your club.

Regards,
Rich Mullins
