Feb/March 2010

We'd like to welcome our Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night dart teams, along with our new
Wednesday night pool team. Come on down and cheer them on!

Thank you, Kathy Wagner, daughter of  our Wake Island POW, Al Hicks who passed away in July,
2008. Unfortunately her husband, Jim, recently passed away. Kathy donated many of Jim's personal
belongings to the club, including his H.D. television! Everything donated was very much needed and the
MCL cannot thank you enough for your kind generosity.

We’ll be kicking off the Lenten season with a Fish Fry every Friday night, beginning February 19th.
Coach Hess will again entertain us through dinner that night with blues and oldies, like he did on January
15th. Every one had a good time then, so come on in on the 19th and dance the night away.

And speaking of Lent, bring your sweetie in on Saturday, February 13th for a Fat Saturday/Day Before
St. Valentine’s Day cocktail. We’ll also be looking forward to our Swieconka Party on Saturday, April
3rd. This traditional “Blessing of the Food” party was a huge success last year and we are hoping for a
repeat performance this year. More details to follow as we get closer to the date, but mark your
calendars now! Saturday, April 3rd. Swieconka Party at The MCL!

Happy belated birthdays to ‘er Commandant Rich Mullins who turned (HOW OLD?) on January 27th
and Rick Strutner on January 29th. We are sure Rick’s was a little different than he would have
imagined……And looking forward to birthdays, be sure to tell Larry Gillespie Happy B-day on
February 26th, Cindy Murray on March 1st and Kathi Gilroy on March 30th. If you know someone’s
birthday is coming up and you would like to have it mentioned in the newsletter or on the calendar, let
Nancy know and she will pass on the information to the appropriate people 

Here’s to a speedy recovery for Jerry Brown. Please say a prayer for our friend. Hopefully he’ll be out
of commission for just a short while.

Remember to bring in your old cell phone for our Phones for Soldiers program.

If it’s almost March, it’s almost time for our legendary St. Patrick’s Day Party, Wednesday March
17th! As Rich said, there will be much going on that day including music, The Caledonia Kilty Band,
our Irish Dancers, good times, good friends and a really great dinner. And speaking of the dinner, Kathi
is “Calling All Crock Pots!” If you have one that she could borrow that week, it would be much
appreciated. She will need about 9 or 10 total, so if you have one you don’t mind lending for a great
cause, please mark your name and bring it to the club so Kathi can pick it up before the 16th. Please let
Nancy know if you will be able to lend one so Kathi can plan ahead.

Need to rent a hall for your next party? Remember The MCL! Spread the word. Can’t beat the deal.

Bring your friends and come down to watch the Olympics on our “new to us” big screen H.D. TV.
Also, great for watching ND basketball!

Check out the calendar for this month’s dinners and activities. The March calendar will be available as
we get closer to March 1st. Remember, fish fry every Friday during Lent and Taco’s every 2nd and 4th
Monday. See you at The Club!
