A note from Nancy:
Just wanted to take a second to thank all the well wishes on my birthday last month.
It was a big surprise to me. Thanks to each and everyone of you for making me feel
very special on my day!!!
The Staff at the Marine Corps League, in an effort to not forget one person, would
like to recognize each and every effort that so many of you make to keep this club
thriving. Unfortunately that is not possible. The staff really tries to keep track of
every kind gesture made by so many but invariably fails each month to mention it all.
We’ve been operating with a minimal crew here in Gunny Brown’s absence and so
many of you have really stepped in to help. So if we fail to mention you by name,
please accept our apology and know in your hearts that we are truly grateful for
everything you do. No matter how small.
Now having said that, some of you just have to be named for continually, month after
month, providing some of our biggest joys.....
To Loren and Julie Roth for bringing us those wonderful peanuts in a shell that so
many people enjoy here. In fact, we go through so many peanuts, Loren and Julie
are bringing us peanuts every 3 to 4 weeks!! Say a big “Hell Yeah!” to both of them
the next time you see them!
To Carol Mullins for being the one we can count on, without fail, to provide our most
delicious desserts for our Friday night dinners. Those of us with a sweet tooth thank
you, thank you, thank you!
We would also like to mention Henrietta’s desserts as well---we haven’t enjoyed your
company for a while---know you are missed. We are all hoping you are feeling better
soon.
To Tom and Becky Andrus for all their time and effort spent helping us. Thank you
for shopping and volunteering behind the bar. Especially with little notice.
To Kathi Gilroy who spends countless hours organizing our thoughts and typing our
newsletters and calendars. Thanks again Kat!
To Gary and Cindy Murray who communicate with Kathi and so generously print the
newsletters and calendars for us.
To Rich Mullins, ‘er Commandant, for working so hard cleaning the kitchen after
each and every one of our Friday night dinners. The staff doesn’t know what she
would do without your help!
To Jack Spillman for keeping our refrigeration going. Thanks Jack!
To Gerald Brown, Gunny’s son, who drops everything and comes in to fix whatever
we broke!
We would also like to extend a very big thank you to all of you who donate to our
popcorn fund. No dollar goes unnoticed and really helps us to keep it popping.
Something else worth mentioning are those of you have been winners of our drawings
only to turn around and donate your winnings back to the club. Thank you for your
generosity. It always comes across as a surprise and is never expected. We are really
grateful.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to our first annual golf
outing. The turnout was so much better than we anticipated and everyone seemed to
have a good time. Hope to see you all next year! Because of all of you, we were able
to donate $1,250 to our local Hospice House.
